My summer in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan (and how you can partner with me)!

My church, Pacific Crossroads, partners globally with three primary areas; East Asia (my former colleagues/organization), a ministry to Indian Hindus, and a group planting churches among Muslims in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. In a way to serve our partners better, we as a church are going to chose a partner each year to emphasize.

This year, we are focusing on Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan by sending five mission teams over concurrent weeks. The teams will be working within the context of children’s camps, outreach to local Kyrgyz men, and serving in a family/marriage camp for Kyrgyz families.

Kyrgyzstan is a country which is a former member of the Soviet Union in Central Asia. There are about six million people, of which approximately 90% are Muslim. There has been rapid growth of Islam over the past decade or so. The Christian church is minuscule, at less than 1% of the overall population. 

Our partner in Kyrgyzstan plants churches and works with children in the capital city of Bishkek. They are a faithful, Christ-centered ministry. It has been wonderful getting to know their leadership these past two years and I am thrilled that we will be able to come alongside of them in such a concentrated effort this summer and beyond.

Personally, I will be helping in leadership of all five teams. I will be living in Bishkek this June and July.

First, would you be willing to pray for our teams and me? I have never served inside of a Muslim country, let alone led groups in one. However, that is what I will be doing all summer. Second, would you consider partnering with me/us financially this summer? Our group of 44 are all committed to raising $2,800 each. I need to raise $3,500, since I will be in Bishkek for each group. Additionally, the local church network in Bishkek has massive financial needs, so we would like to be extremely generous in meeting some of these financial needs through this group.
